Tihar Jail Refutes Threat Claims Made by Chaitanyanand Saraswati; Submits Detailed Report to Court

The Tihar Jail administration has dismissed allegations made by Chaitanyanand Saraswati, who claimed that his life was in danger inside the prison. The jail authorities submitted a status report before a Delhi court, stating that the accused is safe, stable, and in secure custody.

Accused of Exploiting 16 Students

Chaitanyanand Saraswati is lodged in Tihar Jail on charges of sexually exploiting 16 female students from a private college in South-West Delhi. The allegations include intimidation and coercion to establish physical relations.
He was presented before the magistrate on November 15, after completing 14 days of judicial custody, where he told the court that he feared for his life inside the jail.

Jail Administration Counters the Claim

According to the report signed by the Deputy Superintendent of Tihar Jail, the accused is under police custody and is completely safe. The report categorically denies any threat to his life, asserting that he has been provided adequate protection within the facility.

Advice and Immediate-Grievance Mechanism Provided

The status report states that Chaitanyanand has been advised to immediately inform any jail officer—or directly report to the officer who signed the report—if he faces any harassment or threat. The authorities assured that prompt action would be taken in such cases.

Heightened Vigilance and Security Instructions Issued

The jail administration has ordered the prison staff to remain alert and to address any complaints by the accused without delay.

Chaitanyanand had also expressed fear regarding the jail van and lock-up arrangements when being taken to court. In response, the administration has written to a DCP-rank Delhi Police officer requesting enhanced security during transit between the jail and the court.

The court has taken the report on record, and further hearings on the matter are expected.
