Maoist Stronghold Shaken: 320 Cadres Killed in 334 Days, Two Senior Commanders Labeled ‘Traitors’

Raipur: The Maoist movement in India has suffered a severe setback over the past 11 months, with 320 cadres killed across various states, including key leaders. A 17-page internal report by the Maoist Central Committee acknowledges the heavy losses, marking a critical crisis for the organization.

Full Story:

According to the report covering December 2024 to November 2025, the fatalities included both senior and low-level cadres. The letter specifically cited the encounter of Politburo member and General Secretary Baswa Raju as a major blow to the organization.

Of the total 320 deaths, 187 were men, 117 women, and the status of 20 others remains unknown. Region-wise, the casualties were recorded as follows: Bihar-Jharkhand – 22, Odisha – 33, Maharashtra-Madhya Pradesh-Chhattisgarh border – 6, Telangana – 8, Andhra-Odisha border – 6, and South Bastar-Dandakaranya region – 243. Additionally, 37 cadres’ status remains unconfirmed.

The report also accused two senior leaders, Bhupati and Satish, of being responsible for the surrender of 299 cadres, further weakening the organization. Chhattisgarh police described the report as a stark acknowledgment of the Maoists’ internal crisis, fractures, and rapid decline in influence. The Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee alone recorded 243 cadre deaths in just 11 months, which authorities consider a significant achievement.

IG Bastar Range Sundarraj Pillai noted that the state government’s rapid development initiatives—improved roads, schools, healthcare, employment, welfare schemes, and connectivity—have transformed areas long dominated by Maoist influence. Villages that once lived under fear are now progressing with confidence, hope, and a strong desire for peace.

Pillai also reiterated the government’s call for all Maoist cadres, from PLGA units to local and senior leadership, to abandon violence, surrender, and reintegrate into mainstream society. Those who choose to return are promised dignity, safety, rehabilitation, and new opportunities, with a clear message that the door for reformation remains open.
