Ranchi, Jharkhand: In a historic move, Tadasha Mishra, a 1994-batch IPS officer of the Jharkhand cadre, has been appointed as the acting Director General of Police (DGP) of Jharkhand. She assumes charge following the resignation of former DGP Anurag Gupta, whose resignation was accepted by the state government two days ago.
The race for this top post included senior officers like 1992-batch IPS officers Anil Palta and Prashant Singh, as well as 1993-batch officer M.S. Bhatia, but ultimately, the government entrusted the state’s police leadership to Tadasha Mishra. Her appointment is seen as a step toward bringing renewed energy and direction to Jharkhand Police.
Career and Tough Image in Bokaro
Tadasha Mishra made a name for herself as a strict and decisive officer during her tenure as Superintendent of Police (SP) in Bokaro. Her leadership saw a significant reduction in crimes like extortion, murder, and kidnapping. Under her guidance, police operations led to the encounter of more than half a dozen notorious criminals, demonstrating her prompt and strategic approach to law enforcement.
One of the most high-profile operations under her leadership was the Anand Singh encounter in Dhanbad’s Bertand area, at Madhulika Sweets. Anand Singh, a notorious criminal, was killed in this operation, which was executed swiftly after intelligence indicated his presence. This action solidified Mishra’s reputation as a tough, no-nonsense police officer across Jharkhand.
New Direction for Jharkhand Police
Officials and observers hope that Tadasha Mishra’s decisive style and strong leadership will guide Jharkhand Police toward greater efficiency, discipline, and effectiveness in tackling crime. Her appointment as the first female DGP of Jharkhand is also a historic milestone, highlighting women’s growing role in top police leadership positions in the state.
Her tenure is expected to focus on strengthening law enforcement, rapid response to crime, and community safety initiatives, setting a benchmark for policing standards in Jharkhand.
