
Barabanki, UP: A massive explosion rocked an illegal fireworks factory in Sarai Barai village, Tikaitnagar police station area of Barabanki, on Thursday afternoon, claiming the lives of two workers and leaving three others critically injured. The blast was so powerful that it was heard up to 2 kilometers away, and nearby homes developed cracks due to the shockwave.
Horrific Scene at the Site
Eyewitnesses described the explosion as extremely violent, with two workers’ bodies dismembered by the force. The factory and adjacent houses caught fire, and smaller secondary blasts continued for some time, causing panic among residents.
Rapid Response from Authorities
Fire brigade units and a heavy police contingent rushed to the site immediately after receiving information. Rescue and relief operations are ongoing, and the injured have been admitted to a nearby hospital, where their condition remains critical.
Illegal Operations and Negligence
Preliminary investigations revealed that the factory was operating without a license, flagrantly ignoring safety regulations. Villagers claimed that previous complaints had been filed, but authorities failed to take action.
Senior Officials Investigate
District Magistrate (DM) and Superintendent of Police (SP), along with other senior officers, reached the site to oversee rescue and investigation operations. Police have cordoned off the area, and efforts are underway to identify the deceased and determine the exact cause of the explosion.
