Patna:
In a historic political moment, Janata Dal (United) national president Nitish Kumar was sworn in today as the Chief Minister of Bihar for a record 10th time. The oath-taking ceremony was held at Patna’s iconic Gandhi Maidan, where 26 newly appointed ministers also took oath alongside him.
Nitish Kumar, now 74, first became Chief Minister in the year 2000. Although his first government fell within eight days, he returned to power in 2005 and remained at the helm until 2014. He resigned after the JD(U)’s poor performance in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections but later returned to the chair. His previous oath ceremony took place in January 2024, when he rejoined the NDA alliance.
